Humanoid Robot

The our humanoid child-sized robots, named “Ochobot” are part of French robotics company Aldebaran’s NAO line. The Ochobot are equipped with:
-
video cameras
-
directional microphones
-
tactile sensors
-
Wi-Fi connectivity
-
sonar rangefinders
-
a complex range of motion
With these input methods available, the robots can be programmed to exhibit complex behaviors. Examples include turning their heads to look at people who are speaking to them, identifying and manipulating objects, and pulling information from the internet to add to a conversation. Ochobot are charismatic machines, and he attract patrons into the library to see what they’re capable of.
Ochobot can recognize faces and detect where sound is coming from. He have a "fall manager" that helps them right themselves after a tumble just as a human might, grunts and all. He can even "touch" and "feel" with the help of tactile and pressure sensors. The robots come equipped with programming software, but embedded within that software are compatible programming languages, that can be used to expand the capabilities of the NAO bots. Aldebaran also has a large development community continuously adding new behaviour apps that facilitate everything from high-five gestures to a "wake-up" routine including yawning and stretching.
Ochobot can be functions in the Mahathir Mohamad Public Library:
-
Help the receptionist work in the library.
-
Assist librarians in managing inquiries and management of customers at the counter.
-
Assist in the affairs of the library users.
-
Become a main attract for libraries.
